English Writing Competition We were very excited to hold the first English Writing Competition this month.
The topic was: “The Cyclone” and about 60 handwritten entries from G-1 to G-10 were submitted. The students were given the choice of writing a fiction or non-fiction story. Why? Because many of them slept through the cyclone itself. But none of them escaped finding out the enormously sad details later. No one living in Yangon could ignore the reality of cyclone Nargis. It touched everyone in one way or another. Because of this many students were eager to write about the storm and tell their own story. The qualities of the entries were impressive. It was difficult to narrow down the winners. But finally the awards went to:
The English Writing Competition has been a regular feature of Horizon yearly schedule for 3 years now. A new competition will begin soon. “Are you ready to write?”
