    1. What is Mathemania?
    Mathemania is an annual contest organized by Math Departments of Horizon Int’l Education Center (HIEC) among the students and consists of different kinds of puzzles of different level. It is organized both in Yangon and Mandalay.

    2. Can I participate in this contest if I do not live in Yangon or Mandalay?
    Although it is organized by HIEC in Yangon and Mandalay, everyone form Union of Myanmar can participate in this contest.

    3.Who can participate in this contest?
    Anyone from Secondary and High School level can participate in this contest. Secondary school level participants are the participants who are attending Grade 5 to Grade 8 during the 2007-2008 academic year. High school level participants are the participants who are attending Grade 9 to Grade 10 during the 2007-2008 academic year. For International Schools, High level participants are categorized as Grade 9 to Grade 12.

    4. How can we be able to participate?
    To be able to participate in this contest students should fill an Application Form and bring two recent photos. After submitting the Application Form, the applicant will receive an Identification Card that will give him the right to participate in the contest.

    5. Is there any Application Fee?
    Yes. The Application fee is 1000 Myanmar Kyats.

    6. Where from can we get the Application Form?
    The Application form is available in HIEC’s office and on HIEC’s website www.horizon.com.mm. The Application Form can be duplicated.

    7. Is Application Fee free for Horizon Int’l Education Center’s students?
    Since the purpose of this contest is to boost enthusiasm towards Math and strengthen the critical thinking skills of every student in Myanmar, there will be no differentiation between HIEC students and others. So, HIEC students should also pay the Application Fee.

    8. What does the “Exam Language” in Application Form mean?
    Since the language might be difficult barrier in understanding the puzzles’ instructions, to overcome this problem HIEC Math Department has decided to make the test in two, Burmese and English languages. So, every student can enjoy the participation in this contest regardless to language problem. While filling the Application Form students should mark the language that they want the exam take. If a participant wants to take the test in Burmese, he/she should mark “Burmese”. If the participant wants to take the test in English, he/she should mark “English”.

    9. Can I change the exam language later on?
    No. After receiving ID card nobody can change terms and conditions of the participant.

    10. Can we apply online?
    For some technical problems, online application can not be fulfilled for this 2007 year. Online application will be available for the next 2008 year.

    11. If the contestant was identified as a first-session-exam-taker, can he/she sit for the exam in the second session?
    No. That is why participants should make sure of their exam session while receiving their ID cards.

    12. When is the deadline for application?
    Application Deadline is 14th of November 4:00 pm.

    13. When is the contest date?
    It is 17th of November for Secondary School level participants and 18th of November for High School level participants.

    14. Is the contest’s date fixed for every year?
    The contest dates might change depending on different situations.

    15. How can we learn results of the contest?
    The results of the Mathemania contest will be announced 2 weeks after the test (1st of December) and you an learn it directly from the HIEC office or from the website www.horizon.com.mm.

    16. Where can we receive the prizes?
    Prizes can be collected from HIEC’s office or received during the Award Ceremony (8th of December).

    17. Are the prizes same for every year?
    Since Mathemania getting popular by the time and the number of participants are increasing, to make the contest more challenging HIEC is planning to change the prizes every year.

    18. Can we get sample questions concerning the Mathemania?
    Yes. You can get the sample questions from the HIEC website www.horizon.com.mm.
